Coaching In Second Life

Discuss on ooVoo

Had my first impromptu coaching session in Second Life.

For those of you who do not know what Second Life is, check it out here.  In a nutshell, it is a place where people gather online and build a visual avatar that moves through a visual landscape.  Many groups exist and even some businesses hold meetings and trainings there.  I am part of a group called Mystic Academy.

A person asked me what coaching was, so we took the opportunity to have on the fly and via IM a coaching session.  As much as communicating through IM was challenging at first, the session interesting, as they always are.  The person was going through similar processes I am currently going through.

That is another amazing aspect of coaching, clients reflect what you are going through or still dealing with.  It’s a symbiotic relationship where the coaches does not impose their hidden agenda.  Well, at least the real coaches don’t.

Second Life, Incursion Into A Virtual Life

Discuss on ooVoo

For the past few years, I have been on and off visiting Second Life.  For those of you who don’t know what it is, Second Life is a virtual reality world where you can create your own character (avatar) and meet people.

Second Life is an interesting place filled with groups that reflect real life, RL interest.  I found groups raging from my favorite Mystic Academy to a Rosicrucian hangout and more. You can find… virtually anything.

There are some fascinating aspects to Second Life.  Depending on who you are, you will represent yourself in different ways.  I find that most people like to show an improved or alter ego of who they are in real life.  Many come across as overly sexy avatars to outright colorful ones, adorned in almost super heroesque costumes.  I decided to represent myself as… myself, as close as I could.

The other interesting tidbit about Second Life is that it is a place for virtual meetings.  Some companies have already understood this and are using it to their advantage.

Finally, Second Life can be a great place to look for like-minded people and as usual, you will find whatever you attract.  If you need a tour, come to Mystic Academy and if you see Nickster Shinji, say hi and he will give you a tour.  :)
