International Coaching Federation in Long Beach

It was great attending part of the convention. I had a great time, met wonderful people and learned a lot.

That’s one thing I have been happily surprised with, coaches are truly, genuine nice people. The ones I met are sincere and approach you completely there, in the presence of the moment. It’s a great feeling being part of this crowd.

I went to two workshops I enjoyed. One was on how to find a niche and the other on a wholistic approach to coaching, which resonates greatly with who I am.

The Niche workshop was fun because Joeann Fossland who conducted it had a similar past to mine. She started early owning companies, then fully embraced real estate and found coaching in this market segment. I couldn’t help but smile as I listened to her story since mine mimics it so closely. She eventually found that she was a great Realtor coach. Hum, HINT, HINT, HINT!

The other fellow was Arun Wakhlu who gave us a twist on a wholistic approach to coaching. Of course that resonated heavily with me. The idea now is to do it without being branded as woo-woo coach. What’s a woo-woo coach? You know, those people who are involved in metaphysics one way or another. It’s too bad it has such connotation linked to it but there are good people everywhere.

The only negative aspect of the conference was the steep $300 day pass or $650 for early bird members and $950 for the rest at the door. I feel it effectively closed the doors to many newer coaches that need these venues. Maybe the ICF will take into account a “starters fee” or something for beginners for next year.
