Life With A Wii

Discuss on ooVoo

I haven't had as much fun since I was a kid.  I got a Wii!

The Wii really nails fun on the head.  If the Playstation and Xbox is all about realism and violence, the Wii is all about fun and game sin an arcade style.  Nintendo really got this one right.  It's not pretentious, the graphics are nothing great but they are fun.  The games are just fun.

The Wii also does a few more things well, it caters to playing with others and getting physical.  I played for less than a hour swinging an invisible tennis racket in the air, an imaginary golf club and air boxing some comic looking fellow only to wake up next day sore.  LOL, what fun!

When you play too much, it gives you a message asking you to consider going outside for some fresh air.  It also has a way to get on the internet and do all sorts of things.

What fun this has been.  I wouldn't have been as excited with another high-end gaming console.  And anyway, Virginia and I playing Golf together on a Saturday night was hilarious.

When It Is Time To Move…

Discuss on ooVoo

One of the hardest thing to do in coaching is knowing when it is time to move on.  And yet, nothing could be simpler.

My oldest client has moved on.  After 2 years of coaching, John (not real name) came to the realization it was time to move on.  It was a joyful and a little sad moment but the right thing to do.  This client has come a long way and fueled by a desire for a better life, the progress have been phenomenal.  At one point, it will be time to find another coach for the rest of the journey, and so on.

There is no way to know when it is time to wrap it up.  It just happens.  Clients and coaches form a symbiotic relationship for a while and move in one direction.  At some point, the destination is reached and other relations need to happen to continue the journey.  So it goes, so is the way of the Universe.  Nothing rests, everything moves.

I feel blessed to have been part of this journey with John and I know what we have learned will stay with us with a better foundation and a new outlook on life that spells success for this client.

It's a joyful moment.

Monday 21st, Winter Solstice, A Powerful Time For Meditation

Discuss on ooVoo

On one of the emails I receive that covers a modern version of Mayan calender, the upcoming Solstice this Monday promises to be a very powerful time.  This Solstice is a door opening where many of the energies of the world come to a standstill, making it the appropriate moment for reflection before the lights comes flooding in on us again.

Excerpt: at the precise moment: Monday Dec 21 9:47AM PST, Yellow Solar Human day, 13Kan but also, know that during Solstice the Sun stands still for 3 days before the Return of the Light – so it is an auspicious window of time!

While these are important times to gather with our family and
communities, these are also important times to go deep within ourselves
and to let go of the old, making space for new life and new creativity
to blossom.

In this regard, I would like to share with you a message I found very
inspiring, in the hopes it might also move you to engage in personal
ceremony during this 3 day window.

The following message is from my dear friend and cosmic ally, Ariel
Spilsbury (author of The Mayan Factor and the 13-Moon Oracle):

"Dear Beloveds,

What a powerful "Duir" door this Winter Solstice offers! Solstice means
Sol-sun and stice..stands still. Far from the frenetic energy that is
promulgated by the culture, the three days around Winter Solstice are a
time to go inward, to "stand still" in the darkest time, to deeply
inquire into what shadow baggage is calling to be totally released
before you enter into the cycle of the Return of the Light. Some things
are true, and sometimes they are truer still. This is one of those
times. We have been personally and culturally in a process of
dissolution of our baggage for many years now, and THIS solstice is
time to look at what single shadow you have carried in your life that
is like a "curse" or "spell" that you have "been under", that you are
truly ready to take FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS CREATION AND FULL
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS RELEASE!

What pattern has come down your family line that you have felt to be
completely unable to be changed, so powerful was its "spell"? And by
spell i mean the strength and tenacity of the belief system or pattern.
Reaction is a portable prison.* Culturally this is a potent time to
break the spell and break free! These dark days during Solstice are
particularly powerful for that process, so please consider taking time
to do a deep contemplation to discover what the spell has been and do
an intentional ceremony to release it for yourself and the collective
One!

This does not have to be a "heads down, serious, un-fun" process. It
can be as easy as asking yourself, "I wonder why I would cast this
spell in my life and who is the character in me who is continuing to
perpetrate it in my movie and further more "I think i will just make a
new casting call and REWRITE THE SCRIPT of my life movie without that
pattern!!  That could be a lot more fun way to look at doing this
process. "How can I animate and amplify the most desirable story/script
for my life? What NEW VOW do I want to put into motion in my life?" For
moving through the "duir" of the new year, these are questions worth
answering in a Solstice Ceremony. As starhawk says in a wonderful chant
you can use, "The Wheel is Turning, What Will You Give to the Night?
Response: _____________ is gone with the night. Answer that and truly
give it to the Dark Mother to be transmuted, that the Divine Child in
you may be birthed this Solstice!!!

Starhawk's traditional Solstice Greeting: "This is the night of
Solstice, the longest night of the year. Now darkness triumphs; and
yet, gives way and changes into light. The breath of nature is
suspended; all waits while within the Cauldron,  The Dark King is
transformed into the Infant Light. We watch for the coming of dawn,
when the Great Mother again gives birth to the divine Child Sun, who is
the bringer of hope and the promise of summer. This is the stillness
behind motion, when time itself stops; the center which is also the
circumference of all. We are awake in the night. We turn the Wheel to
bring the light. We call the sun from the womb of night. Blessed Be."

"The winter solstice is the shortest day of the year and the longest
night, known also as the Mother Night. It is considered to be the start
of a new year and the rebirth of the new sun. We honor the power of
darkness, the Divine Mother, the womb of creation. Yule is the return
of the sun and rebirth of light. It is a time of new beginnings and a
great time for dedication to new projects. We celebrate and welcome the
rebirth of the sun Goddesses. Winter Solstice is a magical time for
visions. Rhiannon rides through the dreams of her people by night,
transporting them to the place between the worlds where they can create
their own visions, giving them a gift of what they need most, helping
them to make their dreams real. Let us collectively dream a new
heart-centered world where our visions of Heaven on Earth are
manifested."

Flying Delta, A Case For Using Smaller Airlines

Discuss on ooVoo

This past decade has shown without a doubt how bloated corporations in the U.S. have lost touch of reality and are offering worse service while officer salaries still balloon at million dollar range.  Our latest bone to pick, after closing our Chase bank account in favor of a local smaller Credit Union is not flying Delta again.

Virginia was stranded in Atlanta after Delta switched to a smaller airplane at the last minute with no explanations.  She was kicked off after having paid a previous rebooking fee of $150 and dealing with an appalling customer service.  After aggravated stress, she was able to get on a later flight.

A few things has become clear.

  1. Delta management has started to get the company away from bankruptcy but the higher management salary is disconnected from the strain and stress they impose on their customer base.
  2. Delta forces many to fly through Atlanta, which is in and of itself one of the worse airports.
  3. Delta charges more fees than any other airlines in the U.S..
  4. Delta had a fairly simple problem to solve by supplying an equal capacity airplane, considering Atlanta is their hub and they should have more than enough local airplanes for such problems.
  5. Delta made Virginia pay a $150 rebooking fee and kicked her off the flight without valid explanations.  The company did not treat her in a preferred manner and expected us to pay an extra $150 to rebook her after the mistake they imposed on their clients.
  6. Delta forgets the company works for people who fly, not the other way around.
  7. Delta's officer salary makes it unrealistic for them understand ti understand how hard middle-class America has to fight and to see the sub-par client treatment.
  8. Delta might now be out of bankruptcy but their service is appalling and treat customer as hording cattle.
  9. Lastly, Delta, amongst many other big airlines are breaching contracts where we pay for service to get us from point A to B as mutually agreed upon.

While everyone has the right to get paid what they feel they deserve, one thing has to be to keep clearly in mind, that the client in the end chooses.  We are not without recourse and have plenty of smaller more efficient companies who are willing to earn our business.

This last experience has shown us that flying smaller airlines is worth a friendlier service even with a lay over than have to deal with a bloated greedy and unfriendly airline.  Again, smaller companies are more efficient and hungrier for business than big ones.

Never again Delta and other big corporation.  You have lost our accounts and trust.

The Importance Of Tapping The Source

Discuss on ooVoo

The more I looked around, the more I was convinced that we need to tap the source of anything we do in order to make the best informed decision and not get caught up in the irrelevant.

Why?  Without getting political or worldly cause, one perfect example is the futile debate on climate change.  Whether the climate change is man-made or an act of nature, one thing has been demonstrated, the climate is… changing.  The latest research have shown this beyond doubt, regardless of its cause.  Yet, it seems many debates disregard the obvious and get bogged down in sterile political rhetoric.

When something is not right, regardless of its cause, we act on it.  In other words, when we tap to the source of the climate change ordeal, it makes little sense whether it is a holy act or a man-made one, we make sure we do not make the situation worse and start curbing down our footprint, lower our pollution emissions, as well as doing the little things we can do now.

The more I have thought about it, the more I am still convinced that tapping the source, or getting to the gist is still the best way to see the relevant picture and making the best overall decision.

From Scarcity To Enough

Discuss on ooVoo

It can take a long time switching your frame of mind switching from a scarcity point of view to one of abundance.  And the strange part about it, is that it requires two ingredients.

Faith And Willingness.  Come to think about it, rarely does anything without those two ingredients, faith that it will work and willingness to make it work.

For most people, yours truly included, undoing years, of not decades of negative thinking can take time and requires a lot of dedication.  There is no easy way.  You just need to be on top of what happens with your thoughts.

Keeping Tabs.  The first place to start after you have determined you have faith it will work and are determine is to keep tabs on what your thoughts are pumping out.  By simply observing your thoughts, you can easily see when you have a negative one and replace it with two positive one.  Keep at it!

As a rule of thumb, it takes only once to acquire a bad habit, it takes at least seven to a few tries before you replace it with a better one.  So don't despair.  Keep at it!
