The Coach Connection Blog had a very good
post on what are the main traits of successful people.
Successful people know themselves extremely well. Indeed, “know thyself” by Descartes.
Successful people accept their own humanity. Indeed, if you don’t recognize your humanity with its strengths and weaknesses, you are operating with incorrect data.
Successful people have a clear personal vision and purpose of life. Of course that is the key. Without a clear vision of your life purpose, you’re just trying here and there hoping to find what sticks.
Successful people create their own definition of success. This one makes sense. Sometimes success isn’t the obvious financial rewards, it can be successful in love and relationships, it could in spirituality, with having a great group of friends. When you start to look at it this way, you find that you are very successful in many things.
Successful people know what they love to do and do it exceptionally well. This one is a no-brainer. If you do what you love, chances are you do it well. That’s where coaching helps people exceed in life.
Successful people embrace life. If you don’t, you can’t dance with the rest of us and nothing happens. It’s a sine qua non condition.
Successful people have very high integrity. And this one is particular because people define their own sense of integrity. I am sure if you talk to Bill Gates, he would feel in integrity with his vision of life.
Successful people feel they have a strong relationship with their God. Here you can substitute the word God with Light, Source, The All, that which makes everything be, etc. It’s true, once you’ve tapped into that source of all things, you have a different vantage point of view, ever so slightly above ground.
Great post with good insights.
