In the ongoing debate “Anybody Can Call Themselves A Coach” I feel very optimistic about the future.
Why? Because all my fellow students I am studying with have that common thread, a will to learn and give back to society. That is pretty noble considering everything nowadays.
I am always happy and smiling whenever I hear this in class, in a conversation or just chatting with my coach friends. Everyone feels at a point where they want to do something concrete and good “for life”. It’s that giving back that is an essential part of a good coach. You know what is the second? A coach who gets trained.
I make a lot out of it but being trained shows that you are serious, take your profession seriously and are doing all you can to bring quality into coaching. Coaching is still very vague for most people. Most still think of sports coach and the only common point is that we push our clients to achieve their dreams… not ours.
So I think the new generation of coaches will surprise you more than you think. Once the hype will die out, we will have heart and soul coaches. And as far as what I do, I make life easier! It’s that simple.
