
Becoming aware of ourselves is one of the reasons why we seek business and life coaches. Once you start to understand yourself better, it becomes easier to match who you are with what you are doing.
Ever get the feeling you are not doing what you would truly like to do at work? Here is a simple little thing that should help clarify things.
Write down your personal and professional values. Take time to think it through and make two separate lists. Start with a list of your core values. Write down your beliefs, the things that are most important to you on a personal level. After you have done this, do the same for you professional values.
Now look at the two lists. Are they aligned? What is congruent? What isn’t? This is a simple a neat little trick to help you see if you are doing what you should be doing, or more to the point, helping you realign what you do to you.
There is nothing worse and unproductive than someone doing a specific work whose core values don’t match their professional environment. Sometimes just becoming aware of it helps you tweak your mind frame and better use to excel at work.
