One recurring theme in the coaching session I encounter is the lack of time people leave themselves to think.
My regular days start at 6 a.m.. I go and prepare Virginia’s breakfast. As soon as she leaves, I meditate. I know “meditate” sounds esoteric and mystical to many, but really it is the act of leaving time and space for you. It helps you take a step back and reflect. I take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes and sometimes more to stop, slow down, recapture my time.
Taking the time to meditate or think things through is not only crucial but something any successful people do daily. It gives you time to stop and look. It gives you a vintage point of view, a global scope of things and yourself. It gives you back your space, your time and you own power, sort of speak.
I take this time to look at my new day and what I want to achieve. If my mood s off, I sit down and bring back into focus my goals. My aim changes and my mood becomes great again. If I have too much on my plate, meditating helps refocus priorities, urgent and important tasks.
It really helps anyone take five every now and then to refocus. It helps you to see what is important. It helps make things relative again. I know I don’t make the most of my day if I rush through it without taking the time.
