Interview With A Successful Realtor Coach, Long Beac

A few days ago, I interviewed Joeann Fossland. It was a great experience and she showed me how Realtors in this market are still thriving with a little help from a Business Coach.

I thought she was being optimistic at first but she was right. Again, it all depends on your attitude and how committed you are. I haven’t compiled the entire interview yet but I will give away a few bits.

Joeann is a natural born enthusiast and never sees, or should I say doesn’t acknowledge the obstacles. This is a great strength. The reason why she touched me so much is that I am like that. I was so captivated by her story, it sounded like mine. It reminded me of my own strength, how I go into almost any project charged and rarely looking at the state of any markets because that is what I need to do at the moment.

These last two years I have been guilty of not being so optimistic with real estate. The market is odd, the media was not reporting the true picture and created a slew of confused buyers and sellers. So I started criticizing. I believe there is a need for people voicing their concerns of the journalistic media but I should have done in a more positive fashion. Learned my lesson. Now I know what it is to not be optimistic. I just had never experienced it. Now I also know how to work with people who aren’t optimistic and want to regain it.

She is a true Coach. As I was interviewing her and her amazing practice, she explained her products… and they are simply brilliant. IN the form of games, she gets Realtors every week to play a game that ultimately motivates her. And they are doing good in the mist of this hectic market.

So check back here in a few days when I post the interview. It was fascinating and very motivating.

Thanks Joeann.

Personal Foundation of a Coach, Signs of a Great Coach, Long Beach

One of the reasons that Coaching appeals to me so much is that you work on yourself. while working with others and all of this adds to making you a better coach and better contributions to society.

Sounds kind of corny but ultimately, true. One thing I am grateful I had to do with my Coaching training through CoachU was to work on my personal foundation. It is something I offer in my practice, developing and setting your personal foundation. One of the most important thing is to work on time management.

How many times are we guilty of looking at a big project but rarely getting around to it? Here is my latest, I have to redesign my home office to better suit my needs. In the past, I would have tackled the project by putting aside two days and going full steam on it. After picturing the “How To Eat An Elephant” project, I finally got it down to manageable tasks.

The first thing I did to get a sense of breathing room in my office was to clear my desk. I removed any decorative objects and only have a to-do pile that needs to go every day and cannot stay with the same items at the end of the week. That is commitment 1. Another task was to put away unnecessary items in the room into boxes. Those boxes can fit in my Great-Grand-Mother’s ancient armoire perfectly. That was commitment 2. The next step is to sell on Craigslist lingering computer products no longer relevant. What doesn’t sell after two weeks will be given away to a local thrift store. I am halfway through this. After the space has been created, I will tackle the redesigning part of the project.

I have an Ikea piece of furniture where I pretty much put everything and anything on. I will need to find different places to put my incredible crystal collection. I have big $1000 pieces I need to find room for or sell them. The very last part, once the room is functional again will be to get a white board as well as a big wooden filing cabinet.

Halfway through my project, the room feels bigger, roomier, and the “energy” flows better. The most important part was taking care of my desk. It was the impetus to having a clean functional place to work without distraction. I would have chosen to deal with everything at once in the past, but I didn’t. I like the idea of pacing myself, doing it one step at a time. It gives me two satisfactions, seeing the progression on a daily base and having time to rethink the strategy as the need arises.

Working on your personal foundation helps a coach better her/himself. Working with clients who have the same goals become very easy.
