The Assessor Office’s tax department is not known for friendly reminders when you owe tax money. In fact, it gives more heart attacks to anyone who vaguely resembles whoever owes money hoping to get the right ones to pay.
Here is how it works. The Office sees it needs to collect on a piece of land. It will send out letters to anyone whose name resembles the original owners. Talk about casting the net wide!
Enters our distraught client who recently lost her husband and receives a threatening letter from the Assessor Office to pay up $17,000.00.
The poor lady, still under shock from losing her husband doesn’t know any better. Thank goodness she did the right thing, as far as I am concerned ANYONE should do, she came to talk to knowledgeable Robert Weil Associates for selling or buying homes
Anyway, I digress, we quickly resolved this and the elderly crying lady left with a smile wondering what kind of system threatens innocent people to pay?
Also another good question would be, what would have happened had she paid? How quickly would the Assessor’s Office realized the mistake and given back the money?
Again, nice people pay for what less than ethical people do who give us this strange and bizarre system.
