No doubt about it, there something extremely odd about our society. While presidents prance around on Airforce 1 to help fellow politicians get elected on our taxes, they also get many, many perks. From life time secret service benefits, to other lesser known, none strike me as more skewed as our health care system. I had to rush Virginia to the emergency a while back and waited 2 hours to finally drive her back home. All is well, thank goodness but it all leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.
We have come to a point where politicians who do not represent our best interest anymore, preferring to spend millions of dollars to be elected and help their lobby pals make more money, while the common tax paying Joe has to wait hours at emergency rooms. That common Joe being the tax payer.
This is beyond political parties and I belong to either right or left. It just is skewed. As much as I like the European health care system, I fully realize it is impractical. However, I see we are on a stellar opposite here. In fact, a study that came out not too long ago showed how health care companies have grown substantially while hiring more and covering less. It is sad but even consumerism has an end.
