You know someone will get hurt and someone will get rich when you find more more agents jumped on the real estate bandwagon in the last 12 months.
The DRE announced 511,459 more licensees for the last 12 month as of August, a 13% increase. With a boost of 53,000 agents / brokers over the last 12 months, one cannot help but wonder what will happen to these people as the inventory of unsold houses rise.
Someone will get hurt, the new agents will. With the market being what it is right now, it will be very hard for a new agent to break in and build a clientele. However I can see real estate training schools and many real estate office making a lot of money from this, as well as seminars. Schools can only rejoice to see more people being attracted the the life and easy living, high commission and fun, fun, fun. Hum! of course, that is not how it is. Anyone who takes the time to see to see how successful agents work will find that they work for every penny the earn and work seven days a week. Real estate offices will surely be making a pretty penny from these fresh new hopeful people as desk costs vary from a few hundred dollars a months to several thousands. And seminars will abound with such titles as: "How To Get Rich In These Uncertain Times"!
What I really question in it all is how many people join on board because they truly have a passion for people and homes? I know I did. How many people truly understand what it is to work on your own? I have always done that, so no surprise here.
