So Much Competition in Our Country, Long Beach

Discuss on ooVoo

I was laughing the other day on the beach with Virginia when a bunch of 20-some year old guys started playing Bocce.  At first it looked like a fun idea on the beach.  Time went by until something struck em strange.  I heard grunts, yells and noises I usually associate with competitive sports playing.  I laughed and told Virginia only Americans can turn a fun relaxing event as Bocce into a grunty sporty competitive event.

Maybe it’s my European roots and being from the South of France where one plays Pedanque, the equivalent of Bocce for fun with friends under the shade.  I just had never seen that aspect of the sport.  IT reminded me of how competitive we are in the country.  Everything turns to competition quickly here even walking in the street, who’s cooler, who’s better looking, who can score more at bars, etc.

Just a fun observation.

Goldman Sachs Predicts Tumbling Housing Prices, How Will Long Beach Prevail

Discuss on ooVoo

US investment bank Goldman Sachs believes house prices are set to drop in the US for the first time.  With prices falling in some segments throughout the country, there is a fear of a  decline in 2007.

The Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight’s index is expecting a slowdown to to 4% from 10.4%, possibly even negative by 2007.

I guess we are lucky in the midst of it all in Long Beach.  We never appreciated as say Pasadena and we find buyers looking into our city as a more affordable alternative.  Whether the prices fall or stabilize through the nation, we hopefully will not feel the full effects as other more prominent cities might.

More mouth watering number crunching here.
